Walton Academy was founded out of a desire to bridge the gap between early childhood and K–8 education by creating a consistent, nurturing, and innovative environment. Our vision was to support children from birth through eighth grade with a seamless, high-quality educational experience that grows with them at every stage. By aligning the foundational principles of early learning with a rigorous, developmentally appropriate academic program, we provide a cohesive path that nurtures the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. Walton Academy is more than a school—it is a supportive community where children grow with confidence, engage with curiosity, and are prepared to thrive in high school and beyond.

Early childhood education is defined as the formal and informal education of children from birth through age eight. Early childhood is an essential period in a child's life. During these formative years, children build their foundations of well-being, self-confidence, academics, physical health, and overall happiness. Research shows that during these years children have the ability to learn more quickly than at any other times in their life. If a child is successful in school by third grade, research indicates that the same child will most likely be successful throughout all of their academic careers. However, the reverse is also true. If a student is struggling academically by third grade, it is likely that the child will continue to struggle throughout the remainder of their academic careers.

Walton Academy was created with every child in mind. Research shows that high-quality education is critical for children during these years. Our accelerated academic program, state of the art facilities, and qualified teachers who are committed to excellence empowers every child to attain new heights in their education.

Our model is unparalleled in the Greenville/Pitt County community. Children's World Learning Center (CWLC) currently operates four childcare centers and continues to grow. While many of our students begin their journey in one of our centers, Walton Academy welcomes all children into kindergarten, regardless of whether they attended CWLC or another preschool program. Children who do transition from our centers often experience a particularly smooth start, as they are already familiar with our expectations, routines, and staff—but our commitment to a warm, supportive, and personalized on-boarding experience ensures that all families feel a sense of belonging from the start.

We also offer a comprehensive afterschool program that provides extended care for Walton Academy students and welcomes children from local public schools. Walton Academy students have the option to remain on campus after the regular school day for enrichment, homework support, and structured play—all in a familiar, supportive environment. Public school students are transported to our campus to participate in these same afterschool activities alongside their Walton Academy peers. To further support busy families, we offer shuttle service between all four CWLC locations, making drop-off and pick-up more convenient. At Walton Academy, we're committed to making every transition—whether into kindergarten, into afterschool care, or simply from one location to another—as smooth and supportive as possible.
