Joan Allen brings over 25 years of experience in elementary education. With a BS in Child Development/Family Relations and an MA in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University, she holds a North Carolina K-6 Educator License. Passionate about student growth, Mrs. Allen fosters a culture of excellence.

Megan Garner, Middle School Coordinator, brings 14 years of teaching experience in grades 5–8. She holds a BS in Elementary Education and an MAEd in Science Education from East Carolina University, along with Middle Grades Science Praxis certification. Passionate about hands-on learning, she was part of the inaugural Teachers on the Tower Educator Returnship at Frying Pan Tower, NC. Megan is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences that spark curiosity and critical thinking.

Dawn Braddy has served Children’s World for 15 years and teaches STEAM at Walton Academy. She holds an Associate’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education and General Education, along with a BS in Birth–Kindergarten. With three years of STEAM teaching experience, Dawn has also designed summer camps and completed Blue Economy Training with the STEM East. She is dedicated to sparking curiosity and problem-solving through hands-on learning.

Wanda Williams, a Greenville native with 45 years of experience, including 18 years teaching kindergarten, holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University. She creates engaging learning environments to build foundational skills. Outside the classroom, she enjoys family time and hobbies like dancing and gardening.

Benita Mattheis, with over 28 years of teaching experience, including kindergarten, grades 2-5 and Montessori pre-primary, holds a BS in Elementary Education from East Carolina University along with K-12 Reading and American Montessori Society certifications. She has a passion for curriculum and creating environments which support student growth.

Ms. Reeves, graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading. She is passionate about working with children and dedicated to fostering their growth and development.

Amy Sheppard, with 32 years of experience, holds a BS and MA in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, along with AIG and K-12 Reading certifications. She engages students with rigorous, fun learning experiences and enjoys the beach and family time.

Sharon Nicholson, with 35 years of experience, holds a BS and MAED in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, plus K-12 Reading certification. She taught in Washington and Greenville and supervised interns at ECU.

Jada Rogers, a National Board Certified Master Teacher, graduated from ECU with BS and MA degrees in Elementary Education. Named a Pitt County Top 5 Teacher twice, she fosters compassionate leadership through collaborative partnerships.

Carrie Everette, has a BS in Elementary Education from Bradley University and over 10 years of teaching experience. She fosters an engaging, energetic classroom environment. In her free time she enjoys watching her children play sports and cheering them on from the sideline.

Mrs. Elias holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in History from Felician College in New Jersey, as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from East Carolina University. Mrs. Elias has been teaching for over 23 years and brings a diverse background spanning multiple grade levels. She began her career as a middle school educator in the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, where she taught English Language Arts and Social Studies. After relocating to Greenville, North Carolina, Mrs. Elias continued her work in education serving as an elementary teacher at both private and public schools for over ten years. Throughout her career, not only has she taught a wide range of grade levels and subjects, she has also mentored interns, and participated in the accreditation process. Mrs. Elias is committed to fostering a love of learning by connecting instruction to real-world applications and strengthening students’ problem-solving skills.

Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the East Carolina University Elementary Education program and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in K–12 Science Education. She has a longstanding passion for teaching and is dedicated to creating engaging, meaningful learning experiences for her students. With a strong enthusiasm for science and a deep commitment to student growth, Ms. Johnson strives to inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of learning in every child she teaches. She is excited to bring together her love for children, education, and science in her classroom.

Mrs. Moss has been teaching for over a year. She holds an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Teaching is not only Mrs. Moss’s passion, but it is her calling. She absolutely loves seeing the joy in children's eyes when they grasp a new concept. Mrs. Moss is committed to providing a supportive, safe, and stimulating environment where children feel welcome and want to learn.

Ms. Edmison earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. For the past 14 years, she has been engrossed in her children’s school community both as a parent and as a teacher assistant. Throughout the years, Ms. Edmison has experience with working with students in many different grade levels. She looks forward to bringing her enthusiasm and commitment to Walton Academy!

Ms. Bryant earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Communication from East Carolina University and is currently pursuing an add-on licensure in Elementary Education. She is passionate about working with children and supporting them as they discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Bryant enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as reading, cooking, and thrift shopping.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. She is passionate about working with children and is committed to helping each student build confidence, foster a love of learning, and reaching their full potential.

Mr. Deal is our General Music Teacher at Walton Academy, where he is committed to making music a meaningful and memorable part of every student's education. As a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Music Education, he is passionate about creating a welcoming classroom where every child feels seen, encouraged, and inspired to grow. He believes music is best learned through active participation and by giving students opportunities to create, collaborate, and discover their unique musical voices while developing a lasting love for music.

Mr. Dilday earned both his undergraduate and Master's degrees from East Carolina University. He is a recent retiree from Pitt County Schools where he devoted 29.5 years to teaching Physical Education. Brian is a dedicated educator who strives to encourage physical activity both inside and outside of the classroom. When Mr. Dilday is not teaching, he can be found cheering on the ECU Pirates at various sporting events.
